The dolphins were jumping literally right next to the boat, one came a little too close and scared us. I was trying to get a picture of them. Drew thought they were funny.

Drew was showing off his floating that he has been learning at swim lessons. After getting the salt water in his mouth a couple times, he learned how to close his mouth and not swallow it, which is one major issue we have swim lessons.
BTW - I borrowed my mom's camera because I could not stand to not be taking any pictures!

I am not ignoring the blog, however, as I am sure you have read, I lost my camera and I have no way of taking pictures. Unbelievably I have not rushed out to buy a new one because I just spent a ton of money buying Drew a whole new wardrobe (18 months), new swim suits and rash guards for swim lessons and all new pajamas (2T) So maybe I will get a new camera for mother's day - that or a new maclaren stroller - (hint hint RJ - that was two really good ideas for mother's day)

Nothing exciting happened this weekend. Friday night I went out for Tonia (my college roommate) bachelorette party. It was interesting nad I cannot post how the night went. After 4 hours sleep, I got up and took Drew to the little gym and then spent the rest of the day trying to make Drew take a dozen naps. Sunday RJ and I went to the driving range to practice up for my company golf tournament this weekend. I suck, I definitely will not be contributing to the best ball game.

I had a very kind friend from work who had some more pictures of me and Drew at my company picnic. Drew got to play some football with some older boys. They were trying to get him to throw it, but he just wanted to eat it.

We had a very busy weekend. After the little gym on Saturday, Drew and I drove straight down to Merritt Island (near my work in Cape Canaveral) to my company picnic (RJ was umpiring of course) It was a lot of fun, Drew ran around the entire time. I was completely exhausted by the end of the day. I realized how much I missed RJ being there (he usually drives) I have one picture that a friend from work took. (Notice the ramp in the background - think up down, up down, up down a zillion times!) I did have my camera but somehow since the picnic I have misplaced it. I am so mad at myself, I loved that camera, it took great pictures. I don't know if I left it there or lost it here at the house. Anyways, the picture shows how dirty and sweaty Drew got. He had fun though and that is all that matters.

On Sunday we had a private funeral and finally laid Carole to rest at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens. It was, of course, rainy, windy and stormy out. She was probably mad at us for not making Toni & Joe's bar on the beach her final resting place as she had asked for. Sorry Carole, we wanted to have somewhere to go to visit you.

Drew is still in swim lessons, it doesn't seem like he has progressed much. Although with the weather we haven't actually gotten in a whole week straight yet. So that shot consistency right out. He'll be fine though, he has been so smart at everything else so far. He has a favorite book, it is called Pat the Bunny. I bought it because it had some great online recommendations. Then when I bought it and read to myself, I was like - this is so dumb! But Drew brought it to me the other day so I read it to him and he absolutely loves it. We read it every night, he starts giggling when you open it up to start reading it. He's so funny!

First Haircut!

Believe or not, I broke down and took Drew to get his haircut today - his FIRST haircut. Swim lessons were cancelled because it is still a little cold and the rain probably brought the temperature of the pool down. So I did it - he sat there so good and now his hair actually looks a lot better. I didn't realize how long it was. But you just don't understand, this poor kid didn't have ANY hair until he was like 6 months old. He looks like such a little grown up boy...

Then we played a little bit before we went to Grammy and PaPa's house for Easter dinner

I wasn't sure I was going to do the whole "egg hunt" thing, but decided to do it at the last minute, with plastic eggs of course. Drew actually was totally into it, found his eggs and loved the surprise cheerios that they had inside them.

Grammy taking Drew for a stroll around the neighborhood. He normally likes to push the wagon

This is what happens when you turn your back and my dad has access to Drew...

RJ woke up Saturday morning and decided that he wanted a bushel of oysters for lunch. As soon as May comes around - the month without and "r" you can't get oysters anymore. So he called my dad to come over with Henri & Terry and also stopped a neighbor driving by and had a little oyster party.
We had a really nice weekend - other than it being cold out. This is the first weekend since I can't even tell you when that RJ was home the ENTIRE weekend. We had planned on going out on the boat, but with it being chilly and windy, we decided against it. I was disappointed, however, we took the opportunity to slow down a little and just relax. Of course, we can never slow too much with Drew running around, but it defnitely was more slow than normal speed.

We made one more attempt at getting a "good" picture of the birthday boy. He just told us to stop chasing him around the house with the camera and shut us out of his room.

He finally gave into his goofy daddy and started being goofy back...

We attempted to take Drew out for dinner to celebrate his birthday. He usually is so good out to dinner, however this particular night he was devistated and he wasn't getting over the swim lessons very easily...

Happy 1st Birthday to the Drew man!!

I cannot believe he is really one! This year has gone by so fast and I know people always say that - but it really has gone by so fast, it seems like just last week he was sleeping in the bassinet beside our bed.

One major thing that we will always remember is that Drew started swim lessons on his first birthday. He did ok - he drank a lot of the water the first day. He was so excited to be able to get into the pool - until she dunked his little head under the water. I almost had to walk out half way through the 10 minutes that he was in the pool because I thought I was going to cry. I've NEVER seen him look so terrified, it broke my heart. But I have to keep telling myself that it will all be worth it in the end. Here is one skill she teaches him, to come up from the water and hold onto the edge. As you can see, he had no problem holding on to the edge.

After the party, Drew played with his new sprinkler toy. He loves water, he starts swim lessons next week!

Here is RJ BBQ-ing all the yummy chicken and ribs for the party. He did an awesome job!!
