Canada Vacation

In the airport waiting for our flight! We were going to drive to Canada, however we changed our minds quickly when we found a flight that would get all three of us, our luggage, car seat, stroller and pack-n-play for less than $300! The thought of 24 hours in a car up and 24 hours home suddenly did not sound so fun anymore!
On the plane, after some benedryl and a run around the airport terminal, Drew is ready for a nap as the plane is getting ready to take off...
First stop in Canada - the hockey rink!
Thursday the girls (and Drew) laid by the pool all day, while Dan took RJ to get his passport renewed so that I did not have to leave him in Canada. The pool was a little chilly, so this is about as close as I got to getting in.
This is Rocket taking a snooze in the shade...

Here Drew is with Robin and Payton on the float, since it was way too cold to get in the water. Their pool temperature was about 68 degrees! Can you say ICE CUBE!
Once the boys had some beer in them, they didn't seem to care about the water temperature too much, or was the pure thought of competition????

Dan...

This is the only picture we have of Saturday or Sunday due to a sudden illness that was passed around to everyone - starting with me. We went to Kim & Deke's house for a nice dinner and I started puking. Then Brooke, then Payton. Robin rushed us home after dinner, where she began puking. The boys came home seperately - around midnight - and then they started puking. Sunday - no one got out of bed, including Drew. I don't think anyone ever fully recuperated after that. We never did figure out if it was a bug or food poisoning!

Toronto Zoo

Excited about the zoo...
RJ feeding the Canadian Geese, then he had to take off running because they are pretty mean...
Drew really liked the seals...
The Giraffe was checking us out...
This Bald Eagle was ginormous!!

Wednesday we headed for Grand Bend. Dan's parents live there. It is a touristy town on Lake Huron. There are hardly any waves and the water is FREEZING! The beach is made of pebbles.

RJ treated everyone to the Outback for dinner. It was yummy - however their iced tea SUCKED! Evidently know one has taught anyone in Canada to make tea so they use the kind that comes out of the can.
Here is RJ with RuthAnn (and Drew). RuthAnn helped RJ's mom a ton while she was sick. She is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. Drew absolutely loved her, he definitely recognizes good people when he meets them.
When we dropped RuthAnn off, we decided to let the kids go swimming in her pool (since was a lot warmer than Dan & Robin's pool). Drew had no swim diapers, so he went in the buff and didn't seem to mind...

RJ got the chance to join Dan in a pick-up hockey game Wednesday night after dinner - I think it is called the "old-timers" league :o). With a lot of borrowed equipment, he did pretty good...
RJ vs. Dan for the puck...
RJ has the puck and is headed for the goal...

I personally thought it was freezing the last day we were there. When the sun was out, the temperature was fine, but when the sun hid behind the clouds and the wind started up, I was chilly!!

Last day of drinking...
This is the Western Junior B Championship trophy for the Western Ontario Hockey League (WOHL). The trophy has been around for over 30 years and this year Dan's team - the Strathroy Rockets (which Dan is the GM) - won. One of the guys from the team got a full scholarship to Western Michigan and also was drafted in the 5th round by the New York Rangers.

The last night we were in Canada, the Toronto Maple Leafs rookies were at the arena practicing. Then Brooke had hockey practice, Robin had a ball hockey game, and then Dan had his team on the ice for some summer practice! We had a busy last day!
Brookester on this ice...
Drew trying out the hockey stick...
And it's almost time to go home...

New Haircut!

It was time to get ANOTHER haircut - for someone who had NO hair until he was 9 months old! - we decided to go a little shorter this time...

Here is a good shot of his new teeth...
Don't forget he is only 15 months old!! (Actually not until tomorrow)

Drew and I went to the beach with Aunt Wiener today. I know it is Father's Day, but RJ usually umpires on Sundays, so Drew and I made plans with my friend Jennifer. It worked out fine because RJ wanted to go gambling at the dog track for Father's Day, so he went and did his thing and then we took his dad to the outback for dinner.

Here we are at the beach...
When we got home from dinner Drew somehow found the sit n spin and decided to do some spinning before bed...
Here is the "Father;s Day" picture. Drew is upset because we were trying to get a picture without his binky, bad idea taking the binky out of his mouth!! He was so tired - he went directly to bed after this picture...

Saturday, after the little gym, I had to get my hair done so RJ and Drew hung out, I believe they went to McDonalds for lunch and then took a nap. Saturday night we went to my cousin Chris's wedding. I think Drew had more fun saying with the Schrader's next door - check out their blog for pictures from the night. Looks like he had a blast!
Friday night RJ decided he wanted to take Drew and I to the home run derby at Jackie Robinson stadium in Daytona. Actually RJ just wanted to go and since my parents have been on a cruise, we had Drew for the evening. I was a little nervous about taking him, but he was great the whole time. He got a little squirmy so I took him down to the little play area for a few minutes and it must have been satisfactory because we went back up in the stands and just sat in his dad's lap and hung out. Here we are going in... This is Drew showing the ticket guy how big he is...
This is before we left the house, Drew and I are ready to go as usual and RJ is taking FOREVER!

MOVING ON UP...

Well, if there is anyone who has not heard yet, we are selling our house - or attempting to sell. I know the market is horrible right now, but if you know ANYONE who might be interested, point them in our direction. After careful thought, sleepless nights, and endless discussions, we have decided to move into RJ's parents house - with Lorne - and remodel it. RJ and I did some investigation and buying a house with an "in-law" suite would be twice as much, or more, as our remodel project will be - or so we hope! Plus his parents house already has a pool, it's on 2.75 acres and in a good location in New Smyrna Beach. Drew will have lots of land to grow up on and we can keep a close eye on RJ's dad, who is still a complete mess. We are in the beginning stages, we have a designer, we think we have a General Contractor that we want to use, now we just need to sell our house so we can pay all these people! We are actually kind of excited about it. We'll keep everyone posted through the blog...
